The City of Kawartha Lakes is a friendly community in the heart of
Central Ontario's picturesque agricultural and vacation country. Whether
you ride a road bike, a mountain bike, or something in between, even a
tandem or a recumbent, we have cycling routes that will take you along
the Trent Severn Waterway or an abandoned railway line . . .through
fields, forests, and wetlands . . .and into our many historic towns and
villages. Join us in our cycling adventures and take advantage of all
the benefits the Kawartha Cycling Club can offer:

(KCC application and OCA waiver) are now available on the KCC website. Complete them and mail, with your payment, to Ton (details indicated on the KCC website - Google: Kawartha Cycling Club).
Please Note
that the start location may change on occasion, the ride time range associated with each is to cover all eventualities for insurance and does not necessarily reflect the actual time taken for the ride, and the ride coordinator/captain may designate someone else to act in this capacity.

Hi Folks,
Just in case you thought the KCC eNews had gone into winter hibernation,
it sort of did, but has come out of its cave in anticipation of the
first KCC exec. meeting of 2010, coming up this Wednesday evening in
Cambray.
Spring riding isn't that far off now, but our relationship with the CoKL
engineering staff in relation to roads maintenance and upgrading (with
cyclists in mind) suffered a blow recently with the loss of the city's
two senior engineers, Ken Becking and John Oostveen. Both were very well
informed about and sympathetic to the needs of cyclists and their
safety; both were committed to doing what they could to make the CoKL
more cycling friendly. Where we stand now, with the engineerless new
regime, is yet to be determined; however there are few obvious
reasons to be optimistic given the consistent decline, in recent
decades, of the condition of the roads in the city, as well as the
increasing scarcity of resources, either professional or financial,
allocated to rectifying the situation.
In the meantime we'll just have to pedal on, and your first opportunity
to do that may be during the spring school break down in South Carolina,
where the KCC camp goes again in 2010. (For more information, should you
be interested, contact Mike Gorman at Spokes for Folks.) Remember that
to participate you'll need to get your 2010 KCC membership.

There is no doubt that the strong link between exercise and good
health has contributed to the rapid growth of cycling today. It's hard
to beat when it comes to promoting our own well-being, as well as that
of the planet we depend upon and that depends upon us - behaving
responsibly.
The KCC prides itself on the social element that seems so integral to cycling, and to cyclists at all levels and of all ages. You'll find there are already many in the club who share your particular interest in, if not your obsession with bicycling.
The KCC is all about good healthy inexpensive fun and your membership includes the OCA personal and public liability insurance coverage.
