The Kawartha Cycling Club

May Newsletter

Dear Kawartha Cycling Club Members:

Welcome to our third newsletter for 2008.

Ride Safety

As with this newsletter we should always keep safety awareness front and centre. When we ride remember to follow the Highway Act, use general common sense and be prepared with the right emergency equipment. Before the start of any ride we strongly suggest you quickly remind yourself and your riding mates to ride safely.

News from Our Mountain Bikers!

The Cycling Season has begun and KCC Mountain Bikers are enjoying the trails in several ways.

On Wednesdays at 7PM, Mountain Bike riders enjoy the PCC / Wild Rock Weekly Race Series in the Ganaraska Forest http://wildrock.net/newsletter/raceseries08.asp

On Thursdays at 7PM, the long time running Durham Forest Weekly Series is facilitated by Eric of  Bikenxs   http://bikenxs.com/

On weekends, you'll find KCC Mountain Bikers training on the road or pre-riding the Ontario Cup Race Circuit    http://www.chicoracing..com/html/index.php

The O-Cup MTB series consists of seven mountain bike races through out the province.

The 1st race of the series was held on Sunday April 27th in Mansfield, where three KCC members participated.

Glenn Cameron (18/32), Ray Denure(16/19) and Dave Girolametto(11/20) finished in the middle of the standings in their respective races.

The weather was great, the trail was fast and dry, and fun was had by all who participated.

Executive Meetings

We are holding regular meetings. The dates are posted on our website at www.kawarthacyclingclub.com. You are most welcome to submit suggestions to your executive or come to the meetings.

New Brochure

Please note our new brochure is available on the website. It would help the club if you would forward the brochure to any potential new members. Thanks.

Lindsay Kids of Steel Triathlon Volunteers needed!

RACE DATE: Sunday, June 22, 2008

The Lindsay Kids of Steel Triathlon is a three-sport event where participants engage in a swim, bike, and run, one after another. The Lindsay Kids of Steel is one of many such events across Ontario. Each of the triathlons is designed to be a fun and challenging event for children and youths up to 19 years of age.

The purpose of these races is to introduce young people and their parents (etc.) to the sport of Triathlon in a safe manner. But to make this event a success, many volunteers are needed.

Volunteers

Volunteers help make Lindsay Kids of Steel races possible for the athletes to compete in a fun, safe, and organized way. We believe that those of you who give your time and energy to help support these races should be treated well. We work hard to make sure that you receive the resources necessary to be a successful volunteer, that you’re safe and as comfortable as possible. We want you to have a great time outside with us and the racers.

Learn more about how you can help and please lend a hand by filling in the online volunteer form at http://www.lindsaykidsofsteel.com/volunteer.htm.
